Most visitors split their stay between the beaches of the north-west coast, around Tanjung Kelayang and Tanjung Tinggi, and the town of Tanjung Pandan, which is better for food and is close to the airport. The island is not large, and a car makes it easy to see everything from either base.

This page lists resorts, hotels, villas and guesthouses from budget to splurge. Indonesian school holidays and long weekends are the busiest times, when beach resorts fill with visitors from Jakarta, so book ahead then.
