Homestay Belitung is a family-run guesthouse on a village lane in Keciput, a short ride from Tanjung Kelayang beach. With an average of 4.7 from more than 100 Google reviews, it is one of the best-regarded homestays on the north-west coast, and a National Geographic Indonesia writer who stayed on assignment called it the best homestay they had tried on the island.
The house is airy and bright with a modern, minimalist style, and rooms are clean and cosy with comfortable beds and good bathrooms. Breakfast is home-cooked and generous, and drinking water and coffee are free all day. The owners, Bu Ma'i and Pak Rizky, are warmly praised: Rizky often offers lifts, rents out motorbikes and cars, and runs water activities including stand-up paddleboarding at sunset, island-hopping trips and drone photography.
Beach restaurants and the island-hopping jetty are a few minutes away, and Tanjung Tinggi is a short drive east. It is an excellent choice for budget travellers and families who want local hospitality rather than a resort. Book by phone or WhatsApp with the hosts.
School holidays and long weekends bring crowds from Jakarta: book beach resorts and boats ahead then.
