Punai Cottage Beach is a small group of local-style cottages on Pantai Punai at Tanjung Kelumpang, on the far south-east coast of the island. This is one of Belitung's least-visited corners, and the beach here is a long curve of white sand shaded by coconut palms and sea pines, with granite boulders at the water's edge.
The cottages are simple timber and brick buildings with red roofs, set on a lawn behind the beach. Guests describe them as comfortable and affordable, and the setting as ideal for families: the water is clear and generally calm, making it suitable for children to swim. Facilities are basic, so bring snacks and anything you need from town, and check what meals are available when you book.
Getting here takes time. Tanjung Kelumpang is roughly two hours by road from Tanjung Pandan and about an hour and a quarter from Manggar, so it works best as an overnight stop on a loop around the island rather than a base. Weekends bring local day-trippers; midweek you may have the beach almost to yourself. Book by phone or WhatsApp with the owners.
School holidays and long weekends bring crowds from Jakarta: book beach resorts and boats ahead then.
