Tanjung Tinggi Cottages

Tanjung Tinggi Cottages is a small, owner-run bed-and-breakfast on Jalan Ishak Deramad in Tanjung Tinggi village, a short ride from the granite-boulder beach that is the north coast's best-known sight. Its blue A-frame cottages are arranged around a swimming pool in a green garden.

Rooms are fully equipped with air conditioning and TV. For a modest property the facilities are generous: a gazebo and pavilion, a rooftop terrace looking over the trees, and a games area with table football, billiards, table tennis and mini golf. Bicycles are free to use for exploring the village and riding to the beach, and new motorbikes can be rented. The hosts, Mr Askan and his wife, are singled out by guests for their warmth and help.

It is a peaceful alternative to the bigger resorts, best for families and couples who like a pool and a personal welcome. Tanjung Tinggi's seafood warung and beach are close, and the island-hopping jetty at Tanjung Kelayang is about ten minutes away by road.
