RM Tekukur is a small Chinese-Indonesian restaurant at the start of Jalan Sijuk in Paal Satu. It was previously known as RM Afun and is still run by the same cook. The building has little signage outside, so rely on the map pin; inside it is clean and bright, with a large aquarium along one wall.
The cooking is home-style and non-halal. Regulars recommend babi goreng (fried pork), fried noodles, nasi goreng, stir-fried kangkung and grilled or steamed fish, which reviewers describe as fresh and silky. There are also some local Belitung dishes. Chicken dishes are good but priced on the high side; overall the bill is reasonable for the quality.
It opens daily from 10:00 to 22:00, takes reservations and has free parking. It is cash only. It suits an unhurried lunch or dinner in a quiet setting and is a short ride from the town centre on the way out towards Sijuk and the northern beaches.
School holidays and long weekends bring crowds from Jakarta: book beach resorts and boats ahead then.
