RM Nelayan Seafood Belitong

RM Nelayan Seafood is a large, open-sided restaurant in Air Merbau, on the eastern side of Tanjung Pandan, that many Grab drivers and guides send visitors to. The dining room is wood-panelled with long tables suited to families and groups, and there is a good-sized car park.

The signature is seafood tumpah, a mixed seafood platter tipped out onto the table, and gonggong, the local sea snail eaten with chilli dip. Black pepper prawns, fried squid and grilled fish are reliable orders, and food comes out quickly even at dinner. Prices are moderate for the quantity.

The restaurant opens daily from 10:00 to 21:30. It is not air-conditioned, so it can feel warm in the middle of the day; evenings are more comfortable. Toilets are basic. It is a short drive from the town centre along Jalan Air Merbau, and tour agents often book group meals here, so it is worth calling ahead if you are a large party.
