Kampong Dedaun is a restaurant set in a landscaped garden on Jalan Raya Sijuk at the eastern end of the Tanjung Tinggi coast, near the Santika resort, with a short path down to a private stretch of beach. It is run by a husband-and-wife team who are frequently named in reviews for their hospitality and helpful local tips.
The menu features fresh local seafood: grilled fish, cumi bakar (grilled squid), squid in butter sauce and a range of fish dishes, plus Indonesian staples such as nasi goreng. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable for the area, and cold Bintang is available. Many guests staying nearby end up eating here several times.
It opens from 09:00 to 21:00 (21:30 at weekends) and is closed on Mondays. It serves breakfast too. For a special occasion, ask about a set-up dinner by the beach with a decorated table and bamboo torches; book ahead by phone. It is a fair drive from Tanjung Pandan, so it suits guests staying on the north coast.
School holidays and long weekends bring crowds from Jakarta: book beach resorts and boats ahead then.
