Pulau Kepayang, sometimes called Pulau Babi Besar, is one of the larger islands off Tanjung Kelayang and the usual lunch break on an island-hopping day. A wide white-sand beach faces the mainland, with boats pulled up along the shore and palm trees behind.

The island has a restaurant serving grilled fish, prawns and other seafood, along with simple accommodation, and a small turtle conservation programme where hatchlings and young turtles are cared for before release; a donation or small fee supports the work. The calm, shallow water in front of the beach is good for a swim after lunch, and the walk along the sand gives fine views back towards Lengkuas and Batu Berlayar.

Most visitors arrive with a tour operator, which often includes lunch here in the package, but you can also charter a boat from Tanjung Kelayang. The crossing is short, around 15 to 20 minutes. Bring cash for drinks and donations, and check with your boat crew how long you have, as tours usually allow about an hour for lunch.

School holidays and long weekends bring crowds from Jakarta: book beach resorts and boats ahead then.
