Kupituko is a small coffee shop on Jalan Pangeran Diponegoro in Pangkal Lalang, east of the town centre. It is run by two young local owners, and reviewers repeatedly mention the warm welcome. The space is simple and rustic, with timber benches and a laid-back feel that makes it a pleasant stop at any time of day.
The coffee menu is wide, with drinks prepared using several brewing methods, from manual pour-overs to Vietnamese-style phin drip coffee with condensed milk. There are soft drinks, teas and other non-coffee options, plus simple food and snacks. Prices are low for the quality, and it rates highly with both locals and visitors.
Kupituko opens from 10:30 to 23:30 Monday to Saturday and from 16:00 on Sundays. It is quiet enough to work from, and the late opening makes it a good spot for an after-dinner coffee. There is parking outside. Note that the name plays on 'kupi', the Belitung word for coffee.
School holidays and long weekends bring crowds from Jakarta: book beach resorts and boats ahead then.
