Koffie Boon

Koffie Boon occupies part of a colonial-era building that once housed the offices of PT Timah, the state tin-mining company that shaped Belitung's history. The café combines the old architecture with a contemporary coffee-bar interior, leather seating and a long cake counter, and it sits in the heart of Tanjung Pandan close to Batu Satam and the old town streets.

This is the place for proper espresso coffee rather than the traditional kettle-brewed kopi: reviewers praise the flat white, cappuccino and latte art, with prices around Rp25,000 a cup. The cakes are less sweet than usual, the burnt cheesecake and iced matcha latte are popular, and the house ice cream is regarded as some of the best in town. Light meals include beef rendang with rice cake, nasi tim ayam kampung and pao burgers.

It opens Tuesday to Sunday from 07:00 to 23:00 and closes on Mondays. The baristas are friendly and chatty, and the space works well for a brunch, a co-working session or a break from sightseeing in town.
