The Sheraton is Belitung's only international five-star resort, set on Pantai Penarikan at Tanjung Binga on the north-west coast. It sits within a large, landscaped estate with a long beachfront pool lined by palms and loungers, a stretch of white sand and an impressive lobby that reviewers single out as a first impression.
Rooms are spacious and modern with large bathrooms, and suites are popular with families. Guests rate the front office, beach restaurant team and buggy service warmly, while the food draws more mixed comments: competent but generic for the price, with a Friday seafood market on the resort's island restaurant a highlight. Activities include island hopping and snorkelling with BlueMind Experience, which operates from the resort, and a honey farm visit.
Tanjung Kelayang's boat jetty, Pulau Lengkuas and the granite boulders of Tanjung Tinggi are all close by, so this is a strong base for an island-focused holiday. Tanjung Pandan is about 40 minutes by car and the airport a little further; the resort can arrange transfers. Marriott Bonvoy members often receive upgrades, so book direct.
School holidays and long weekends bring crowds from Jakarta: book beach resorts and boats ahead then.
